Physiology is a review journal published jointly by the American Physiological Society and International Union of Physiological Sciences. The journal features invited short-format review articles written by leaders in their fields.

 

A follow-up to the 2013-2014 Knowledge Unlatched Pilot Collection, the 2015-16 Round 2 collection consists of 78 new titles covering topics in anthropology, literature, history, politics, media, and communications from 26 respected scholarly publishers. By supporting the Knowledge Unlatched collections, Mason and other institutions are helping promote a sustainable market where scholarly books can be made freely accessible for readers around the world. Mason also participated in the Pilot Collection of 28 books. Titles can be browsed on the OAPEN platform (linked above), and are also available through the Mason University Libraries’ catalog.

The peer-reviewed Journal of Early American History is dedicated to the advancement of scholarly understanding of the history of the colonization of the Americas and will appear three times annually. It offers explorations on any aspect of early American history to a broad audience of historians.

 

Open Information Science (OIS) is an open access, cross-disciplinary, single-blind peer-reviewed journal that presents original research on all areas of Library and Information Sciences. It aims to publish the research papers on the most recent issues and developments in the field

 

This database includes more than 172,000 theses and dissertations in total, including 80,000 new citations for theses and dissertations from 1902 to the present.

The SPIE Digital Library contains technical papers from SPIE conference proceedings, journals covering optics and photonics research, and now—with this new purchase—over 200 e-books on optics and photonics.  Technologies span applications from imaging, sensors, biomedicine, manufacturing, and energy to nanotechnology, communications, entertainment, and electronics.

The Libraries now have access to Dance on Camera 2013, 2014 and 2015 featuring a broad range of films including documentaries, shorts, features, experimental works, and music videos that celebrate the immediacy of dance combined with the intimacy of film.

 

Published by the American Mathematical Society, Mathematical Surveys and Monographs is a series that includes books and textbooks, surveys, and lecture notes. Each volume gives a survey of the subject along with a brief introduction. The Libraries now own the 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 collections.

Routledge Handbooks Online: Criminal Justice, Criminology, Politics and Security Studies

Dance in Video Volume II

The second volume of Dance in Video contains dance productions and documentaries by the most influential performers and companies of the 20th century. Selections cover ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, experimental, and improvisational dance, as well as forerunners of the forms and the pioneers of modern concert dance.

 

The Libraries now have access to Volume 3 and Volume 4 of the online collection of videos available for the study of counseling, social work, psychotherapy, psychology, and psychiatric counseling. The collection includes counseling sessions and demonstrations, consultations, lectures, interviews, presentations and documentaries.

 

This resource provides research and best practice methods in the fields of counseling, mental health and psychology. Includes presentations, lectures, conference workshops and seminars.

 

This music database provides a wide range of popular music from around the world. The collection includes tracks from major genres in pop music, including alternative, Christian, country, electronic, hip-hop, metal, new age, punk, R&B, reggae, rock, and soundtracks.

 

This resource covers relatively new high-quality, peer-reviewed publications of regional importance in emerging research fields. The journals are being evaluated over a period of time for inclusion in the highly selective Web of Science indexes on the arts and humanities, science, and social sciences.

 

This index contains records of articles from the Scientific Electronic Library eLIBRARY.RU, the largest Russian information portal in the fields of science, technology, medicine, and education.

The latest module in ProQuest’s Digital National Security Archive, this resource documents nuclear weapons policies during a significant period in the history of the nuclear age. This module includes 2,200 documents, many of which were only recently declassified.

 

The leading Black newspaper of the 20^th century, the New York Amsterdam News was a strong advocate for desegregation of the U.S. military during World War II, and also covered the historically important Harlem Renaissance. This resource provides full-text for the complete run of the paper, from 1922-1993. Other ProQuest Historical Newspapers available include Atlanta Constitution, Baltimore Sun, Boston Globe, Chicago Defender, Chicago Tribune, Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post.

 

This resource provides digital access to millions of pages of Executive Branch publications from 1789 through 1939, including documents on business and industry, foreign trade, navigation, immigration and population, health, causes of death, religious affiliations, military operations, weather conditions, and more. Based on the Checklist of Public Documents, 1789-1909, Executive Branch Documents represent the most comprehensive online collection of Executive Branch materials available to researchers today.
 

One of the newest titles from the Nature Publishing Group, Nature Microbiology includes original research articles, news, reviews, comments, and feature articles covering the broad field of microbiology.

Content includes briefing papers, special reports, pamphlets, conference papers, and monographs, as well as audio recordings of key figures in international affairs. Includes access to the full text of Chatham House’s two flagship publications: International Affairs and The World Today.

 

This update to the DNSA platform features eight new modules covering the 1960s to 2013, including documents on human rights policy, CIA covert operations, electronic surveillance, Japanese diplomatic relations, counternarcotic policy, Korean foreign policy, and Henry Kissinger. The online version of the Economist journal, this resource offers insight and opinion on international news, politics, business, finance, science and technology. It offers a variety of web-only content, including blogs, debates and audio/film programs. Provides full access to the print edition and a searchable online archive that dates back to 1997.

Each Oxford Handbook features summative essays that evaluate the current thinking on a topic in a given subject area and makes original arguments about the future direction of the debate.  New handbooks available through the Libraries include Economics and Finance, and Political Science. The Arts & Sciences Collection extends JSTOR's coverage in economics, education, linguistics, political science, and area studies. These often- interdisciplinary titles broadens the scope of coverage for the social sciences and expand the range of international scholarship. 

 

These three archives expand the content of Mergent Archives platform. Mergent is an online database featuring a vast, indexed collection of corporate and industry related documents covering over 100 countries and industries.

 

This database covers a broad range of related subjects, from fine, decorative and commercial art, to various areas of architecture and architectural design. It provides full text access to journals and books; an image collection, art reproduction records, and includes periodicals published in French, Italian, German, Spanish and Dutch. Art Source includes the content of EBSCO’s Art & Architecture Online and Art FullText, and will be replacing both databases.

Each video is paired with additional video resources to provide viewers with practical applications of the technique and other complementary skills.

 

SAGE Stats: U.S. Political Stats    

Collection providing downloadable data visualizations and research tools related to the U.S. Congress, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the U.S. Presidency; includes information on election returns, congressional floor votes, Supreme Court decisions, as well as presidential and economic indicators.

 

Combining three collections of statistics: State, Local, and Business, this data platform allows users to view and download social science data covering geographies within the United States. Topics include healthcare, crime, education, employment, religion, and government finances.
