Frequently Asked Questions
The maximum size our printer can handle is 48x36”, which is also the standard size.
Individuals can request two posters per week. Department- or class-wide requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis; please contact us at pal@gmu.edu to discuss batch requests (i.e., 3 or more posters). Batch requests will be processed more slowly than individual submissions if approved, and PAL staff reserve the right to reject batch requests depending on the availability of supplies and the amount of lead time given.
We print research posters and other materials produced for academic work or other university-related activities. The following are common examples:
- Research posters for academic conferences or research celebrations
- Posters designated for in-class use
- Posters related to the activities of Registered Student Organizations
- Signage for Mason events
PAL does not print personal or commercial requests. Approved requests must have educational import or otherwise demonstrably support the public activities of individuals or organizations at Mason.
PAL staff reserve the right to deny requests that do not meet these guidelines.
No, we can only print on heavyweight coated paper at this time.
Posters can be picked up from the Information Desk on the first floor (where you would also check out circulating materials) during Fenwick Library's opening hours.
Posters cannot be returned or stored with the Information Desk. Once you have picked up your poster, it is considered your personal property, and Mason Libraries are not responsible for individuals' personal property. As per the Lost & Found Items Policy, the Information Desk does not hold items for drop-off. Please seek other ways to store or discard your poster if needed.
One-on-one consultations for help with research poster design are available either in-person or virtually. Schedule one by clicking the button under Help & Instruction on the left-hand sidebar.
We do not send a confirmation email upon receiving requests; however, you will be redirected to a webpage confirming your submission after filling out the form. We will send an email once your poster is printed and ready for pickup.
The Office of Student Creative Activities and Research (OSCAR) offers research poster templates which can be downloaded here.
