The University Libraries subscribes to thousands of scholarly journals and electronic books that you can access online. Due to licensing restrictions, only current students, faculty, and staff have access to these resources off-campus. When accessing most resources from off campus, you will have to login using your Mason username and password. To use Google Scholar to find resources available at Mason, view the Google Scholar tutorial.
Troubleshooting
If you are a current student or faculty and are having trouble connecting to content like electronic journals, articles or e-books to from off-campus, here are some steps to try:
- If you are not asked to login,
add the following the beginning of the link: http://mutex.gmu.edu/login?url=
This makes the site go through the Mason Proxy server (using the EZProxy service). If you would like to link to Mason subscribed content properly, see the guide: Linking to Library Content
- If you are asked to login, make sure you are using your Mason Net ID and Patriot Pass Password. This is the login information you use for Blackboard and Patriotweb.
If you have forgotten your Patriot Pass Password, please visit password.gmu.edu and use option 3 to reset your password.
- Disable the pop-up blocker while you are using our databases. You can always go back and enable it again for general Internet use. For personal firewall software, such as Norton Security, make sure that cookie blocking is set to "none" and that the browser privacy box is unchecked.
