Biography
Including my current position, I have held three different positions in George Mason University Libraries. First, as the Education Liaison Librarian, and second, as Head, Data Services Group. Prior to coming to Mason, I was the Coordinator for Government Publications and Maps at the University of Pittsburgh's University Library System. In addition to working with government information and maps, I was also the GIS librarian. Early in my career, I worked in public libraries.
During my time at the University of Pittsburgh I had an opportunity of a lifetime to work as the shipboard librarian for Semester at Sea's 1998 Spring Semester voyage. For this particular voyage we traveled to countries in South America, Africa, South, Southeast and East Asia.
What I do at Mason Libraries
As the Director of the Digital Scholarship Center (DiSC), formerly known as Data Services, I work with colleagues to provide support for data and digital research methods, tools, and techniques. My areas of specialization include providing guidance for research data management, managing and guiding researchers through the process of sharing data in George Mason's institutional Dataverse, teaching workshops and library instruction, and providing research consultations in the areas of data literacy, working with data, locating and purchasing data for projects, techniques for finding data, and working with a wide variety of software and digital resources that we support in DiSC.
