The following public use policies apply to the Fenwick, Mason Square and Mercer Libraries (Law Library's policies)
Print Materials
- Onsite use of print or media materials is available to the general public.
- Borrowing of Mason-owned items may be available free of charge to certain groups, or for a fee through the Passport Program.
Electronic Resources
- Onsite use of electronic resources is available to the public from university-owned computers.
- Offsite access is limited to current faculty, staff, and students who have a Mason login due to licensing agreements. Many public libraries provide access to electronic resources for their patrons.
Research Services
- Study space is limited in most of the libraries, but visitors may use any available study carrel. Use of study rooms is limited to Mason affiliates through our reservation system.
- Reference assistance is available to the general public, though university students, faculty, and staff are given priority. Visitors may request an individual consultation with a subject librarian.
Networking/Printing/Scanning
- Public computers are available that enable access to online resources.
- Wireless access is available to the general public. Visitors whose home institutions are members (USA list) may use the eduroam network. Other visitors can connect to the MASON wireless network and register as a guest (instructions).
- Printing and scanning is available to the general public through networked printers using Mason Money. These cards can be purchased at all library locations.
Behavior
- Use of the George Mason University Libraries is a privilege, not a right. Disruptive or disrespectful behavior is not permitted.
- Library patrons and visitors are required to abide by the Library Community Standards and Expectations.
