Browse recent issues of many of the University Libraries scholarly journals (2005-present) in a publisher neutral environment. The new web version expands the  reading experience from the mobile applications, to now include computer desktop access, supporting serendipitous discovery.  This tool is not inclusive of all Mason Libraries journals.  Please note there may be additional issues of a title available outside of BrowZine

Child Development and Adolescent Studies
Provides access to current and historical information relating to the growth and development of children through the age of 21. Database includes indexing and abstracts for books, book chapters, book reviews, dissertations, theses, journals, and technical reports.

Provides Mason faculty, students and staff with free, unlimited online access to 2500+ tutorials and courses in hundreds of subject areas, including office productivity, audio, video, and web software, as well as business and job skills. New courses are added every week. Log in with your Mason Net ID username, and password. lynda.gmu.edu is available 24/7 from your computer, tablet or mobile device, and is  supported jointly by Mason’s ITS Learning Support Services and the University Libraries.

Mergent Archives: Historical Industry Rpts AND First Research Historical Rpts
Access an indexed collection of corporate and industry related documents. Historical content includes Mergent's collection of digitized corporate (Moody’s) manuals, municipal & government manuals, annual reports, industry reports, and Ford Equity Research Reports, as well as the Key Business Ratios, country reports, Million Dollar Directory Index, Hoover's Handbooks, commodity yearbooks, and First Research industry research reports.

Political Science Complete
Citations, abstracts, and indexing of the international journal literature in political science and related fields, including international relations, law, and public administration/policy. Database also provides access to full-text reference works, and conference papers, including those of the International Political Science Association.

Race Relations Abstracts
Resource provides content relating specifically to the relationship between races. Abstracts cover areas relevant to race relations; subjects include ethnic studies, discrimination, immigration studies, and others related to the discipline.

SocINDEX
Database offers a broad coverage of sociology, encompassing all sub-disciplines and closely related areas of study. It provides access to journals, books, dissertations, reports, conference proceedings, and author profiles. Subjects include abortion, criminology and criminal justice, ethnic & racial studies, gender studies, political sociology, religion, social work, sociological research and theory.

Urban Studies Abstracts
Includes abstracts to journal articles covering areas related to the study of cities and regions, including topics in urban affairs, community development, and urban history.

Violence & Abuse Abstracts
Provides bibliographic records covering essential areas related to violence and abuse, including family violence, sexual assault, emotional abuse, and other areas of key relevance to the discipline.

ASM Alloy Phase Diagram Center
Database contains over 36,500 binary and ternary alloy phase diagrams, each with their associated crystal and reaction data. Also includes all inorganic systems.

ASM Corrosion Analysis Network
Database is a source for researching, understanding, preventing and solving corrosion-related problems. Updated regularly, the Corrosion Analysis Network provides access to more than 20,000 documents, sourced from conference proceedings, journals, technical publications, data books, and standards.

Films on Demand: World Cinema Video Collection
Collection offers feature films from renowned directors across the globe, including films from the silent era, international directors, American and European masterworks from the mid-20th century, and award-winning contemporary films featured by Global Lens.

International Encyclopedia of the Social & Behavioral Sciences (Second Edition)
IESBS offers foundational, interdisciplinary knowledge across a wide range of behavioral and social sciences fields. The disciplines covered include: anthropology, economics, political science, psychology, and sociology. Entries include discussion of history, current trends, and research in these fields.

Sabin Americana, 1500-1926
Based on Joseph Sabin's landmark bibliography, this collection of primary sources contains works about the Americas published throughout the world from 1500 to the early 1900's. Included are books, pamphlets, serials, and other documents that provide original accounts of exploration, trade, colonialism, slavery and abolition, the western movement, Native Americans, military actions, and religious history. Political and religious life in North America, as well as South America and the Caribbean are included. Features American and European views of the colonization of the Americas, the American Revolution, the days of the early Republic and Jacksonian period, the antebellum period, Civil War, era of Reconstruction and post-Reconstruction, the settlement of the West and the onset of the Gilded Age.

Congressional Quarterly’s Politics in America 2014 (the 113th Congress) 
Politics in America 2014 profiles the 535 members of the 113th Congress plus the six delegates, and offers biographical information, election data,  analysis of legislative agendas, discussion of political ambitions, and assessment of reputations of members at home and on Capitol Hill. Statistical state and district information, and also includes partisan caucuses, standing committees and other biographical facts.

Cross-National Time-Series Data Archive
The Cross-National Time-Series Data Archive offers a listing of international and national country-data facts. The database contains statistical information on a range of countries, with data entries ranging from 1815 to the present. General categories include demographic, social, political, and economic topics. For additional assistance, please contact the Libraries' Data Services.

Healthcare Business Market Research Handbook 2015-2016
A strategic business planning resource for executives in medical and health care organizations. It identifies market trends, ideas to expand current business activities, and provides data to support strategic planning and market development efforts.

Momentum Press E-Books Professional Reference Collection 
New titles in professional reference collection of curriculum-oriented learning resources built for use in classroom as an alternative to textbooks.  Subject areas include Engineering –Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Environmental, as well as Material Science.  Collection has no Digital Rights Management (DRM), no limitations on simultaneous usage, and no restrictions on printing or downloading.

Statista
Online statistics portal, integrates more than 80,000 diverse topics of data and facts from over 18,000 international sources onto a single platform. Data and studies gathered by market researchers, trade organizations, scientific publications, and government sources on over 600 industries, including marketing, finance, energy & environmental services, international sources, and government agencies.  Graphs, dossier reports and infographics easily exported, as well as raw data permitting integration with additional datasets.

Accessible Archives
Diverse primary source materials reflect broad views across American history and culture, assembled into a comprehensive database. Coverage includes full-text of 18th and 19th century American newspapers, including African American Newspapers, Civil War Collection, Godey's Lady's Book, and more. The following are the most recent additions to the archive.

  • National Citizen and Ballot Box: 1876-1881
    Digitized journals, once published monthly by the U.S. National Woman Suffrage Association. Includes profiles of prominent women in history, issues concerning separation of church and state, and advocacy for voting rights. 
  • The Lily: A Temperance and Abolitionist Newspaper: 1849-1856
    First US newspaper for women, originally started with home delivery for the Seneca Falls Ladies Temperance Society in New York. At first not viewed as a radical paper, because abstinence from alcohol conformed to stereotype of women as “defenders of the home”; subject coverage grew to include women’s health, education, public policy, laws affecting women, and fashion, appealing to a national circulation. 
  • The Revolution
    Weekly women’s rights newspaper published in the U.S.; served as the official publication of the National Woman Suffrage Association, formed by feminists Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony. Not only influential in national women’s rights, but incorporated subjects excluded from mainstream publications of the time including sex education, rape, domestic violence, divorce, prostitution, reproductive rights, as well as employment unionization and discrimination. 1868-1872. 
  • The Civil War: Part VI: Northeast Regimental Histories
    Primary source documents include court martials, promotions, casualty statistics, transportation, photos, maps and additional illustrations. 1861- 1865. 

Adam Matthew
Collections span the social sciences and humanities and cover a multitude of topics ranging from medieval manuscripts and Victorian moving images to ephemera from the 1960s and confidential government documents.

  • American Consumer Culture: Market Research & American Business , 1935-1965
    Features market research documents of Ernest Dichter and his Institute for Motivational Research. Incorporates information on industries, companies, brands and products, including case studies, proposals, questionnaires, surveys, correspondence, memorandums, and pilot studies. Industries include: automobiles, aviation, cosmetic and beauty, food, household goods, banking, pharmaceutical and tobacco. Companies and brands include Mattel Toys, AT&T, American Airlines, American Tobacco Company, Esso, Disney, Ford, Nestlé, Kraft, CBS, Heinz, and Playtex. 
  • American Indian Histories and Cultures
    Supports the study of American Indian history from the early colonial period to the civil rights movement of the twentieth century. Features a wide range of materials including manuscripts, artwork, American Indian newspapers covering the 1960s to 1990s, rare printed books, photographs, and maps. 
  • China, America and the Pacific
    Provides primary source materials for the study of the history of North American trade and cultural exchange with China during the 18th and 19th centuries. Additionally covers China’s economic dealings with the whole of East Asia and the Pacific. 
  • China: Trade, Politics and Culture, 1793-1980
    Provides a wide variety of original source material detailing China’s interaction with the West, beginning with Macartney’s first Embassy to China in 1793, and relating to the activities and observations of British and American diplomats, missionaries, business people and tourists in China between 1793 and 1980. Includes rare periodicals, color paintings, maps, photographs and drawings. 
  • Popular Culture in Britain and America, 1950-1975
    Covers a wide range of subjects and themes, from Art and Architecture to Youth Culture. Source material includes: manuscripts and typescripts; printed materials (newspapers, magazines, press kits, artist’s files); video clips; visual images (photographs, advertisements, memorabilia); ephemera (pamphlets, leaflets, posters, pins, artifacts); fanzines, underground press, scripts; and government files. 
  • Virginia Company Archives
    Collection of the Ferrar Papers, 1590-1790, from Magdalene College, Cambridge; is an essential source for the study of the Atlantic World and Early Colonial Period. Documents the founding and economic development of Virginia as seen through the papers of the Virginia Company of London, 1606-1624; the continuing interest of the Ferrar family in the settlement of North America from Jamestown to the Bermudas; trade between Britain and America; the ethnic and gender composition of early Virginia; and tensions among the colonists and of early relations with Native Americans. It is also a crucial source for London's economic history in the Early Modern era, and will be of interest to social and religious historians. 

EVGeoCloud
A web-based platform provides online access to geospatial data including vector, rastor and digital maps. It allows users to create custom maps and analyze data from a variety of GIS datasets, including topographic and population (LandScan) data.

Met Opera on Demand
Offers more than 500 performances from the Metropolitan Opera, including Live in HD productions, classic telecasts, and archival radio broadcast recordings, for high-quality viewing and listening.

Natural Medicines
Evidence-based, peer-reviewed information on complementary and alternative medicine treatments. Includes evaluation of therapies for specific conditions, herbs and supplements, and diet therapies.

Politics in America
The Politics in America Series offers comprehensive, nonpartisan commentary and data about members of Congress. Detailed member profiles provide concise insight and candid analysis of personalities, political styles, legislative agendas, political ambitions, and reputations at home and on the Hill.

RILM Retrospective Abstracts of Music Literature
Répertoire International de Littérature Musicale (RILM) is a comprehensive bibliography of writings on music, serving the global music research community. Contains over 620,000 records in 214 languages from 155 countries.

Statesman's Yearbook Online
Provides concise geographic, historical, economic, political, social and cultural overviews of each country in the world; and biographical profiles of current and key past leaders. Incorporates statistics from major international organizations with a tool for comparing a wide range of data fields across all countries of the world. 1864 to present.

Women and Social Movements, International - 1840 to Present
A collection of primary source materials providing insight into women’s social movements around the world. Content includes conference proceedings, reports of international women's organizations, essays, diaries, letters, and memoirs of international women activists dating as far back as the middle nineteenth century.

 World Religion Database
This resource contains detailed statistics on religious affiliation for every country of the world. It provides source material, including censuses and surveys, as well as data projections, for every religion, to offer a definitive picture of international religious demography. It also links to the Global Religion and Migration database.

Classic Mexican Cinema
Popular movie periodicals from the 1890s to 1960s:  Cinema Reporter (1943-1965), Cine Mundial (1951-1955), El Mundo Ilustrado (1902-1910), as well as two rare issues of El Cine Grafico from 1935.  Includes film flyers, personal scrapbook of director Fernando de Fuentes (1894-1958), reviews, movie stills, programs, and advertisements. Applicable for film and media studies, Latin American studies, as well as historical, social and political impact of cinema. [Brill]

Classical Scores Library: Volume III
Completes the 3-volume series from Alexander Street Press for Classical Scores Library, expanding classical music scores, manuscripts, and previously unpublished material, for  study and analysis of more than 45,000 musical scores, encompassing all major classical musical genres and time periods from medieval to contemporary. Contains full, study, piano, and vocal scores for the study of music history, performance, appreciation and theory.

Criterion Collection
Classic and contemporary films of significance from around the world, hosted by Alexander Street Press.  Whenever possible, the films included have been restored—in collaboration with directors and cinematographers—to preserve the quality of this digital archive. Supplemental resources include audio commentaries by filmmakers and scholars, restored director’s cuts, deleted scenes, documentaries, shooting scripts, early shorts, and storyboards.

Docuseek2
Streaming video platform for documentaries and films on timely 21st century issues, including environment, social/ cultural change, aging, sociopolitical, and community engagement, as well as fiction. Topics include anthropology, cultural and ethnic studies, business and economics, environmental studies, gender studies, history, media studies, political science, and science and technology.  Collection contains  series as well as highly focused areas of study.

North American Theatre Online
Detailed reference information on many theatrical figures, plays, theatres, major productions, and production companies, from Colonial times to the present, in both Canada and the United States. Includes over 40,000 pages of major reference materials, together with records to approximately 30,000 plays, 57,000 people, 5,400 theatres, 22,000 productions, and 2,500 production companies. NATO is also Cross-Searchable with these databases: Black Drama and Asian American Drama.

PBS Video Collection
Collection hosted by Alexander Street Press. Assembles documentary films and series from the history of the Public Broadcasting Service into one convenient online interface. Covers multiple educational disciplines, including history, science and technology, diversity studies, business, and current events. Includes access to the films and series such as FrontlineNOVAAmerican ExperienceOdyssey, and films by Ken Burns and Michael Wood.

RKMA Market Research Handboooks
Richard K. Miller & Associates (RKMA) market research handbooks focus on various consumer-related markets. Comprehensive assessments include market forecasts, sector trends, and statistics. In addition to in-depth analyses, handbooks include links to hundreds of websites for additional information. 

SAGE Research Methods Cases
Provides overview and detailed support for students on conducting research, for faculty on teaching design and analysis, and for managers supervising research (quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods), across the social, behavioral and health sciences. Methods Map visualization tool diagrams the relationships between methods; illustrating hierarchies to conceptualize research results. Supporting content includes dictionaries, Little Green Books, Little Blue Books, encyclopedias, major works, and case studies.  Data format includes journal articles, books and video, as well as citing data sets and personalized account option.
